MY APPROACH

A Whole-Person Approach to Healing

I believe transformation happens when we begin to understand the whole person, not simply the symptoms that bring us into therapy.

Our minds, bodies, relationships, environments, and sense of meaning are deeply interconnected. What happens in one area can influence the others, and lasting healing often requires us to pay attention to the whole system.

At Wren & Oak, therapy is not simply about learning a few strategies to manage symptoms and moving on. It is an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, recognize the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build the capacity to respond to life in new ways.

Beyond Symptom Management

I work especially well with adults who know they want something more from their lives but aren’t quite sure how to get there. You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply aware that the way you’ve been living isn’t working anymore.

Together, we look beneath the surface.

We explore the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, experiences, and physiological responses that shape the way you move through the world. Rather than simply asking, “How can I make this symptom go away?” we may also ask, “What is this experience telling me?” and “What would it take to create meaningful change?”

Mind + Body + Meaning

I believe the mind and body are constantly communicating with one another. For that reason, therapy may incorporate somatic awareness, intentional breathing, mindfulness, and other body-based practices alongside traditional psychotherapy.

These practices can help you become more aware of what is happening within you, recognize patterns of activation and stress, and develop a greater capacity to respond intentionally rather than automatically reacting from them.

Our emotional well-being is also influenced by the lives we build around ourselves. Depending on your individual needs and goals, our work may include exploring the foundations that support psychological health and resilience.

SLEEP · NUTRITION · MOVEMENT · CONNECTION · REST · MEANING

This isn’t about creating a perfect lifestyle. It’s about understanding what supports your well-being, what may be asking for attention, and how the different parts of your life work together.

Evidence-Based, Individualized Care

While my approach considers the whole person, it is also grounded in science. I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches and interventions, drawing from different modalities rather than assuming that one method is right for everyone.

Your treatment is shaped by your history, needs, goals, and the changes you want to make. As our work evolves, the approach may evolve with it.

I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a trauma-focused therapy that may be incorporated when appropriate. My work also draws from emotion-focused, attachment-informed, and body-based approaches, allowing treatment to be responsive to the individual rather than confined to a single model.

Therapy as a Transformational Process

I don't view therapy as something you simply “check off” your list. While some concerns may respond to a shorter course of treatment, deeper change often requires time, practice, curiosity, and a willingness to engage with yourself in new ways.

Therapy with me is an active process. I will offer compassion and support, but I will also ask questions, notice patterns, challenge you when it may be helpful, and invite you to practice what we discover together beyond the therapy hour.

I believe deeply in the work I ask my clients to do.

I would never ask you to engage in a process of self-reflection and growth that I am not willing to engage in myself. I believe in the value of this work not only because of my training, but because I understand what it means to look inward, become curious about yourself, sit with what is difficult, and practice new ways of being.
